We did not book a hotel in advance for our night in Bayeux, but I noted a couple of hotels in our price range that had good reviews that we could look at when we arrived. The Reine Mathilde was the first we saw, so we stopped to check it out. The location is excellent, in a busy little section of town very close to both the cathedral and the tapestry.
They did not have two doubles available, but they did have a quadruple. So, we opted to save some money and stay for €74 for the night. The room was up a couple flights of stairs and had two double beds. Fortunately the toilet was in a separate water closet and had its own sink and mirror; this made it a bit easier for four people to get ready in the morning.
Overall, the room was fine-simple but clean. And, at less than €20 per person, a very good deal.
Would We Stay Here Again? Maybe, it was fine for a quick sleep.
