The Anticipation vs. the Vacation: Which is Better?

Written by Weszt | February, 22, 2010

We recently stumbled on an article via Time that indicates the anticipation of a trip might be better than the trip itself. We find it hard to disagree, since happiness is having something to look foward to. What do you think?

Is it really always better on holiday?

Chicago to London

Written by Weszt | October, 13, 2007

Sitting in the Admiral’s Lounge at Chicago/O’Hare, getting my bearings and prepping for the long flight from here to Londo. The time is nearly 3 PM in Chicago, but we won’t arrive until 7:30 or so in London; we’re laid over here for a little while. This trip looks to be our last for 2007 but things have started off great, at least by us getting upgraded to First Class from Orlando to Chicago. Awesome :)

We’ve got a nice apartment (or so we believe) in London waiting for us and we’re pretty damn excited over all – much of the pleasure of a trip isn’t where you’re going but also how you’re going, and on this trip we’re going in style and in great moods.

San Diego Brews

Written by Weszt | September, 30, 2007

Finding a watering hole that specialized in local brews eluded me in my brief stay in San Diego. I came to the city interested in some Southern California wines and beers, only one of which I was able to enjoy – beer – as there wasn’t much time to explore. We explored downtown San Diego and along the coast, from Mission Bay to La Jolla, and eventually stumbled (and I emphasize that) on a local liquor store in La Jolla with the glorious words “Microbrews” by its name. Too bad the brewery in the Gas Lamp section on downtown was closed for renovation.

Coffee in San Francisco

Written by Weszt | May, 29, 2007

(Decided to expand Airplane Shots to include any kind of drink we get to try when travelling…) I knew that San Francisco would be my kind of town when I noticed there was a Starbuck’s literally connected to my hotel. Admittedly I try never to promote chains of any kind as often they get too big too fast and the quality tends to wane (like Starbuck’s) but I like what I like and I’m rarely opposed to a latte. Fortunately for me, though, San Francisco offers a wide variety of coffee and I had the luxury of trying quite a few while I was there.

I don’t profess to an extensive coffee vocabulary (same applies to wine and beer). I won’t try to impress you with flowery wording or descriptions of minute detail. I will, however, share with you as best I can in brief what I enjoyed.
