The first time we visited Las Vegas several years ago we stayed at the Luxor.  When we visited the other Casinos on the Strip we decided if we ever came back to Vegas we would stay at the Bellagio, since we liked the public areas.  And, the public areas are still very nice.  The Gilhuly glass sculpture in the lobby is very beautiful, and the so-called botanical garden is nice.  We had hoped to visit the art museum, but unfortunately we got the closing times wrong and missed it.  Weszt visited the pool area, which he thought was fine except all the prime sunny spots were snagged early by people (although we’re sure that is a problem at any hotel in the area).

We already knew we liked the public areas so the question now is the room.  We reserved a room with a prime view of the fountains, and we did receive that.  the room overall, though, was a disappointment.  We were not expecting absolute luxury, but the room just seemed a little shabby.  Bed was so-so, the television was a tube, and light bulbs were out in the bathroom AND the bedroom.  We called twice to get someone to change them and then gave up.  We know it’s a big property but come on.

Would We Stay Here Again? We would probably try a different hotel on the Strip.
